Why SurfSideSafe and Pinterest Are Changing Social Media—Together![]() |
When we think about social media today, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Most platforms are designed to grab your attention, take your data, and keep you scrolling. But not all social media is like that.
SurfSideSafe and Pinterest are two platforms that are doing things differently. And even though the two platforms are as different as night and day, we believe we both are working toward the same goal:
🔹 Making the internet a better place.
Let’s be clear—SurfSideSafe is not competing with Pinterest.
Pinterest is a one-of-a-kind platform where people go to find ideas, save them, and get inspired. You can plan your dream kitchen, pick your next hairstyle, or design your perfect wedding board.
SurfSideSafe, on the other hand, is about bringing people back to what social media used to be—fun, real, safe, and full of creativity and community.
Pinterest and SurfSideSafe are two different platforms. But we both believe in something that a lot of other platforms have forgotten:
🔹 The internet should be about helping people, not using them.
Here’s something I’ve learned recently:
On most platforms—Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok—your post is only seen for a short time. If someone doesn’t see it right away, it’s gone.
Pinterest is different. Your pins can live on for weeks, months, or even years. They’re searchable. They’re discoverable. They keep helping people long after you post them.
And SurfSideSafe is learning from that.
We want everything you post on SurfSideSafe—whether it’s a thought, a podcast, or a creative challenge—to be worth sharing today and tomorrow.
This is exactly why we are so proud of our podcast hosting. If we host your podcast, they will be around for a very long time for people to find and enjoy.
Social media posts have a shelf life, just like items in the supermarket.
For most platforms, the shelf life is very short. After the expiration date, it is very unlikely that a post will be seen. It might get 1 or 2 views, if you’re lucky, but that’s not acceptable.
To give you an idea about certain platforms, here’s a rundown:
Twitter/X: 15–20 minutes
Facebook: 5 hours
Instagram: 24–48 hours (maybe)
TikTok: 5 minutes to a few hours
LinkedIn: 24 hours
Pinterest: 4–6 months (or even years)
Pinterest is a space where ideas come first. You’re not being tracked every second. You’re not being tricked into staying online longer than you want. You’re there to learn, explore, and dream.
At SurfSideSafe, we love that. That’s what we want to be, too.
We’re building a community that’s:
🔹 Free of data tracking
🔹 Built for users, not advertisers
🔹 Focused on fun, creativity, and trust
We believe there’s a new way to do social media. And it’s not about taking from users—it’s about giving something back.
Some people might expect platforms to compete. But SurfSideSafe and Pinterest are not in conflict. As the owner of SurfSideSafe, I’ll be the first to say, 'We need Pinterest.' In fact, we believe we can work together—not by merging or partnering, but simply by standing for the same values:
✅ Inspiration
✅ Creativity
✅ Long-lasting content
✅ Putting people first
We’re proud to say that SurfSideSafe has nothing in common with the platforms that exploit users.
But we’re also proud to say we have something in common with Pinterest.
We believe the internet can be a better place.
It starts with platforms like SurfSideSafe and Pinterest.
It starts with YOU.
So if you love finding ideas on Pinterest, we think you’ll love creating and sharing on SurfSideSafe.
This is your chance to be part of something that’s bigger than social media.
It’s a movement. It’s a mission.
And it’s just getting started.
AND Remember:
This is SurfSideSafe! If they have it, we have it. And if we don’t, we’ll build it!
